In partnership with Institut Français’ Villa Swagatham programme, with support from RAAS Jodhpur, PATI hosted artist-in-residence, Deborah Fischer, in early 2024. Collaborating with eight local artisans, Deborah will showcase a new body of work that reflects the rich craftsmanship and cultural heritage of the region. Her exhibition will continue at the India Art Fair in New Delhi, February 6 - 9, 2025.

Kriti Sood, Director of Learning Through Arts Narrative and Discourse, introduces the Creative Arts Education Programme active in five government schools within the Walled City of Jodhpur. With the Teaching Fellows, each school has developed an exhibition highlighting the importance of integrating arts into education, as a tool for personal and community development.

David Gryn, founder, curator, and director of the moving image and digital art platforms Daata and Artprojx, presents Garnet Glycerine GSMCRK and Other Stories by Petra Cortright, a digital artwork exploring the intersection of technology and heritage. David will also introduce Look (& Listen), See and Think, a selection of Moving Image works from the British Council Collection, featuring Hetain Patel, Rosalind Nashashibi, Wood & Harrison, alongside emerging and mid-career artists from the region.

17:45 - 18:00 | EXHIBITION TOUR - Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur x PATI Artist-in-Residence Kiran Kumar’s Collaborative Exhibition
As part of a new partnership between the Indian Institute of Technology in Jodhpur and the Public Arts Trust of India, Kiran Kumar presents Pluriform Polynomials, a multisensory exploration of Jodhpur's iconic architecture. Drawing inspiration from algebraic polynomials, the work features sculptural, graphical, and textual fragments crafted in collaboration with local artisans and IITJ students.

Hosted by Jodhpur Nagar Nigam and in partnership with Women in Lighting, Liz West’s Tiered Reflections explores the interplay of colour with Jodhpur’s historic architecture to create an immersive experience across the facade of Jodhpur’s iconic Toorji Ka Jhalra (Stepwell Square).

A crucial process for weavers, yarn spinning is an integral part of their practice which is done manually on a charkha. Sorted fibre is created into a yarn through the process of spinning by expert artisans known as ‘Katwari’ who bring the centuries old Indian heritage channelled through her hands. Witness Maina Devi skilfully showcase this technique and learn the process yourself with this hands-on-opportunity.

Learn the age-old techniques of Rajasthani miniature painting from Mr. Vijayraj Prajapat, a senior professor at Umaid Heritage Art School (Est. 1980), and his team of artists. Known as the ‘Lentil Man’ for his incredibly detailed paintings on a single lentil grain, Prajapat will guide you through the use of specialised brushes and natural mineral colours, helping you learn each step of Rajasthani miniature painting.

An introduction to Kiraṇ Kumar’s transdisciplinary practice, participants will work with the artist to reconfigure choreography as lived spaces.
