Jodhpur Arts Week: Special Projects Edition

October 15th to 21st, 2024

This special edition of Jodhpur Arts Week uncovered and celebrated the intricate ecosystem of collective activity that underpins the art world. By focusing on the processes of creation, conversation, and cooperation, the event highlighted the often-overlooked layers of engagement within the arts.

Centred around the historic heart of Jodhpur’s Walled City, the programme brought together a dynamic blend of exhibitions and site-specific installations. Jodhpur became a vibrant hub for art, with Liz West's installations at Toor Ji Ka Jhalra and Ujjwal Agrawal's work at Ghantaghar blending art and architecture into unique sensory experiences. Exhibitions by Maina Devi with Loewe Foundation and Jaipur Rugs, PATI x LAND Fellows, and artists-in-residence Kiran Kumar, Deborah Fischer, and Erez Navi Pana offered deep insights into Jodhpur’s communities and heritage. The event also featured the British Council’s Moving Image Collection, including works by Petra Cortright, Hetain Patel, Rosalind Nashashibi, and Wood and Harrison, further enriching the programme. These works were showcased alongside creations by fellows and school children participating in PATI and Learning Through Arts Narrative and Discourse’s Creative Arts Education Programme, emphasising the crucial role of grassroots initiatives in shaping the realm of contemporary art and design.
